WHAT IS BIOMASS?
Biomass is the plant organic matter used as fuel to heat private homes, neighborhood communities, and livestock farms.
This fuel is renewable and generated by itself in nature, environmentally friendly, and contributes to compliance with the Kyoto Protocol (reduction of CO2 emissions). A very important characteristic in all types of biomass is that it is not green and is dry, with a low percentage of humidity.
It produces ecological energy: By coming from sustainable organic matter, especially when it comes from waste from forestry activities, an environmentally friendly energy is produced. Therefore, it is aligned with the principles of the circular economy promoted by the European Union (EU), which encourages waste to be used and transformed into resources.
There are grants for the installation of biomass boilers: Public institutions offer various aid and subsidy programs to replace heating and hot water equipment with fossil fuels with high-performance biomass-based systems.
